kw-author-photo-twoKathryn M. Wohnoutka, OFS, is the author of Whole, Single, Free, ME! An Escape from Domestic Abuse, a spellbinding true story of her abusive first marriage, escape, and recovery. She is now embarking on a new journey with joys, sorrows, healing, and more growth. Stay tuned for her second book, But God, I’m an Accountant, which contains the stories of her life after remarriage, sprinkled with humor, mysticism, miracles, Franciscan joy, and adventures on God’s path to greater wholeness.

Kathryn was raised Presbyterian, attended a non-denomination church during her teen years, and then spent 25 years in the Episcopal Church before converting the Roman Catholic Church. As a trained Spiritual Director, she often presents workshops and days of reflections on spiritual gifts, simplifying your life, forgiveness, Franciscan evangelism, and other topics for groups in various parts of the country. She has served as the Spiritual Director and speaker at numerous women’s retreats helping women heal and grow toward wholeness.

Kathryn served as the National Treasurer for The Order of the Daughters of the King, where she has been a member for over thirty years. Members strive to pray, serve, evangelize, and perform self-denial giving. She was the editor of the National Spiritual Formation Guide aimed at helping members grow spiritually. She also served ten years as Directress for two Junior Daughters of the King chapters where she had the pleasure of mentoring girls to grow closer to Christ. Members of The Order prayed for her during the difficult years of her first marriage and their prayers were instrumental in her escape and recovery.

“…seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Since her recovery, Kathryn has been on a quest to simplify her life. Her motto is: Simply: Jesus! She tries to live a life focused simply on Jesus. This motto is based on her favorite verse, Matthew 6:33, which promise: “…seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” This quest brought her to St. Francis of Assisi and the Secular Franciscans, a third order in the Roman Catholic Church, where she currently serves as minister for her fraternity.

Professionally, Kathryn is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and has a Masters Degree in Tax Accounting. She has served on boards and finance committees of several nonprofit organizations. She works full time for Oracle Corporation, where she manages a group of curriculum developers. Kathryn joined Oracle in 1997 as an instructor specializing in teaching challenging combination and custom classes for Oracle clients. She had the privilege of presenting at Oracle AppsWorld (trade show) in Paris and in New Orleans and at several Oracle Open World events in San Francisco.

Prior to joining Oracle, Kathryn had experience as an Account Payable and Accounts Receivable Supervisor, General Ledger Administrator, and spent time with a consulting firm. She also spent several years as a Tax Accountant with one of then Big Six accounting firms.

Kathryn and her husband, George, live in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston, and are active at St. Edith Stein Catholic Community, where Kathryn leads a Divine Mercy ministry. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and traveling with her husband. They are blessed to have four grown children, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and Rosie, their very active and loving pointer-Staffordshire terrier mix they rescued from a local shelter.
