Kathryn M. Wohnoutka
Kathryn M. Wohnoutka, OFS, is the author of two books: Mystical Encounters, Miracles, and Divine Love: True Stories of Faith and Stumbling through God’s Plan, which contains the stories of her life after remarriage, sprinkled with humor, mysticism, miracles, Franciscan joy, and adventures on God’s path to greater wholeness, and Whole, Single, Free, ME! An Escape from Domestic Abuse is a spellbinding true story of her abusive first marriage, escape, and recovery. She is now embarking on a new journey with joys, sorrows, healing, and more growth. Stay tuned for her third book, which will contain her spiritual teachings and more engaging stories.
Kathryn was raised Presbyterian, attended a non-denomination church during her teen years, and then spent 25 years in the Episcopal Church before converting to the Roman Catholic Church. As a trained Spiritual Director, she often presents workshops and days of reflections on spiritual gifts, simplifying your life, forgiveness, Franciscan evangelism, and other topics for groups in various parts of the country. She has served as the Spiritual Director and speaker at numerous women’s retreats, helping women heal and grow toward wholeness.
Kathryn served as the National Treasurer for The Order of the Daughters of the King, where she has been a member for over forty years. Members strive to pray, serve, evangelize, and perform self-denial giving. She was the editor of the National Spiritual Formation Guide, which aimed to help members grow spiritually. She also served ten years as Directress for two Junior Daughters of the King chapters, during which she had the pleasure of mentoring girls as they grew closer to Christ. Members of The Order prayed for her during the difficult years of her first marriage, and their prayers were instrumental in her escape and recovery.
“…seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Since her recovery, Kathryn has been on a quest to simplify her life. Her motto is: Simply: Jesus! She tries to live a life focused simply on Jesus. This motto is based on her favorite verse, Matthew 6:33, which promises: “…seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” This quest brought her to St. Francis of Assisi and the Secular Franciscans, a third order in the Roman Catholic Church, where she serves as fraternity minister.
Professionally, Kathryn is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and has a Masters Degree in Tax Accounting. She has served on boards and finance committees of several nonprofit organizations. She retired after a twenty-four–year career for Oracle Corporation. Kathryn joined Oracle in 1997 as an instructor who taught challenging combination and custom classes for Oracle clients. She was privileged to present at Oracle AppsWorld (trade show) in Paris, New Orleans, and at several Oracle Open World events in San Francisco. Kathryn concluded her career as a Group Manager of writers, who developed courseware and documentation for Oracle’s Financial applications.
Before joining Oracle, Kathryn had experience as an Account Payable and Accounts Receivable Supervisor and a General Ledger Administrator while working for a consulting firm. She also worked as a Tax Accountant at a major accounting firm.
Kathryn and her husband, George, live in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston, and are active at St. Edith Stein Catholic Community, where Kathryn leads a Divine Mercy ministry. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and traveling with her husband. They are blessed to have four grown children, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and Rosie, their very active and loving pointer-Staffordshire terrier mix they rescued from a local shelter.
